Samsung Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ Users Face Random Screen Wake-up Issues Days After Galaxy Note 8’s Battery Woes Surface By Krishanu Chatterjee Posted on January 4, 2018 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr Samsung is not having a great time technologically speaking. The company has faced flak with the Galaxy Note 8 series’ battery woes, which we had reported on a few days ago. Now, some users of the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ are also facing a problem: the screens of some of these devices are randomly waking up while the phone is still charging, leaving users confused if their devices are suffering from some malfunction/s. The report was published in BGR as well and till now, Samsung has yet to respond to any of the complaints raised. However, some users on the forums of Samsung as well as on Reddit (link here) are complaining that the battery woes have now spread to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ as well. Samsung’s woes continue Essentially, the issue is related to the battery charging process. Some users have complained that their Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ devices, and even some Note 8 devices, are randomly waking up when charging, even without any user interaction. Exactly what is causing this to occur is something that has flummoxed even the most seasoned Samsung users. Some users on Reddit have provided a complete description of the issue with videos showing the bug in action. They have also stated that even when the phone is restored to the factory settings, the problems have not been solved either. One user has even discovered that even after wiping the cache may well fix the issue. That is, only till the phone is being used again. At that point, the problem again reappears. The screen is still turning on even if a flip cover case is being used. Since these phones have OLED displays, they are significantly more efficient than the comparable LCD screens. However, even if the OLED panel is being used, the battery life will still suffer if the screen wake-up woes are not worked out. We only hope that Samsung is listening.
