MWC 2018: Sony May Launch New Smartphone Dubbed Xperia XZ2

The Mobile World Congress (MWC 2018) which is going to be held in Barcelona this year is just a few days away now. All the biggest companies in the tech world are going to announce their latest flagship launches at this event. Sony is also tipped to launch their new smartphone Xperia XZ Pro at the MWC. But now, we have got new reports that Sony may launch another smartphone dubbed as Xperia XZ2 at the event.

This information was leaked by Three Ireland (An Irish mobile operator) on Twitter on February 2, though the tweet was later deleted. It said that Sony is allegedly working on a new smartphone named Xperia XZ2 and is likely to launch the new device soon.

Nothing else has been revealed about the device so far, but we are speculating that the device may retain the 1080p HD display like its predecessor with a 5.2-inch display screen. It may be said that the smartphone is going to be smaller than the Xperia XZ Pro, which would feature a 5.7-inch full HD display screen. Both the phones, however, may be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor.

Sony recently launched the Xperia L2 in India at a price of Rs 19,990. The phone features a 5.5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1280 X 720 pixels. The device is powered by MediaTek 1.5GHz MT6737 quad-core processor and 3GB of RAM. It has an internal storage of 32GB which is further expandable up to 256GB with the help of micro-SD card. It also features a fingerprint sensor at the rear panel.

The phone is fueled by a 3000mAh battery, enough to last an entire day and runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat version out of the box. The phone also features Adaptive Charging technology which increases the overall life of the battery.

Talking about the camera department,  the phone features a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front selfie camera with group selfie and portrait modes. Besides all these, the phone also supports 4G VoLTE, dual-SIM, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, USB type-C port, FM Radio and 3.5 mm headphone connector.
