The OnePlus 6 that was launched just a few days ago, has started receiving its first software update along with the Android Security patch of May 2018 to add some new features. The latest update is currently available in the form of a downloadable ROM and will be rolled out over the air soon. The OnePlus 6 Android P beta is also currently available for download. However, users need to sideload it on the device in order to run the phone on Android P.
As per the changelog posted on the official OnePlus forum, the latest software update includes the May Android Security patch for the OnePlus 6 along with some additional features and bug fixes. To recall, the software update was first rolled out to the OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T through an Oxygen OS Open beta update last week.
Apart from the May Android Security patch, the OnePlus 6 update includes the ability to disable the display notch feature. This means the users will be able to add a black strip at the status bar area on the front of the phone to hide the notch feature. The new update also includes an updated camera experience with support for slow motion video capture. After the update, users will be able to switch to 480fps on HD resolution or 240fps at full HD resolution to capture their special moments with every minute detail.
In addition, the software update brings an option for quick capture in portrait mode and also upgrades the gallery for more active support. Last, of all, the update also includes a new OnePlus Switch app that will enable the users to move easily from an older OnePLus device.
Users who want to check out the new features need to download the Oxygen OS ROM update from the official OnePlus forum and then flash it on their device. It is recommended to take a backup of all the data to prevent accidental loss during the update procedure.
