Instant messaging platform WhatsApp has announced that stickers will be made available to Android and iOS users in the coming weeks. The company has also announced that the users will be able to create their own customized stickers and have also detailed the full procedure for it. If you are an Android user, you can check out the new Stickers feature on WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.18.329 or higher.
The introduction of the Stickers feature come months after it was speculated for the first time by some unofficial reports. Alongside a handful of stickers which are now available on the beta version for Android, WhatsApp has also provided a dedicated Stickers Store from where you can download stickers for free. There are currently 12 sticker packs provided by WhatsApp and you can also download more stickers directly from the Google Play store via a link provided. The users will be able to use the Stickers features on WhatsApp Web as well after they have downloaded them on the mobile platform.
”From emoji and camera features to Status and animated GIFs, we’re always looking to add new features that make communicating with friends and family on WhatsApp easy and fun. Today, we’re excited to introduce a new way for people to express themselves with stickers”, WhatsApp said in a blog post.
To use a sticker in one of your chats, you need to tap the emoji button from the chat bar and then tap on the stickers tab from the bottom bar. There is a history tab that lists all the recently used stickers in one place. In addition, WhatsApp has also provided a favorites tab where you can keep all your favorite stickers listed together by tapping the star icon after selecting a sticker for a particular chat.
You can also download new stickers packs from the dedicated Stickers store for free. To download a new stickers pack, just tap on a particular pack to select it and then tap on the download button.
