Samsung Galaxy S9 May Have The Same Screen Diagonal Size as The Galaxy S8

If industry insiders are to be trusted, the Samsung Galaxy S9, Samsung’s next year’s flagship smartphone, may have the same screen diagonal size as the existing Samsung Galaxy S8 and the upcoming Note 8. Both of next year’s devices, the Galaxy S9, and the S9+, may sport the same 5.77-inch and 6.22-inch screen diagonals that we saw this year. The latest information leaked from the orders placed with Samsung Display, which manufactures Samsung device panels.

Will the Samsung Galaxy S9 look like this?

Besides the diagonal size of the devices, Samsung is expected to carry over the ‘Infinity’ display of the existing Galaxy S8 devices, a variant of which is also said to be coming on the Galaxy Note 8. Simply put, the Infinity display incorporates a minimal top and bottom bezels and has a curved display, which ensures that the display is seamless and does not seem limited by the form factor of the device.

It must be noted at this point that merely having the same screen diagonal size is no assurance that the display size itself will be the same. However, one more thing was also mentioned in the leaked report, first brought to light by The Investor. That is the fact that Samsung may once again target the on-screen fingerprint scanning feature, something which the existing Galaxy S8 does not have. The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to give the feature a miss as well.

While we wait for more news about the Samsung Galaxy S9, we are looking forward to the imminent launch of the Galaxy Note 8, a device on which the South Korean giant is banking heavily. The Galaxy Note 7, remember, was a disaster of epic proportions, as the devices would catch fire if the batteries overheated. Samsung was finally able to pinpoint the blame on the third-party battery manufacturers, although it was too late by then and had caused billions of dollars in damages.
