Xiaomi Mi 6 Leaked Image Shows Off Dual Rear Cameras, USB Type-C Port

Much has been said about the Xiaomi Mi 6 before its upcoming launch. Not only have we been flooded by the barrage of rumors and leaks about what the smartphone might look like and what it might pack in, but there has also been no dearth of speculations over when its Chinese manufacturers actually plan to launch it. Now that we know that the device is all set to launch on the 19th of this month (Wednesday, that is) at an event in Beijing, we are eager to know if it will live up to all the anticipation that has been built around it. However, if a new leaked image is any indicator, we have just received confirmation about the device being as interesting at the back as its front face.

The new image has surfaced on Chinese social networking site Weibo and only shows what appears to be the backside of the upcoming Mi 6 smartphone. In fact, what we can see in the picture is nothing more than a back cover, but there are a few telling hints that it gives way to, most interestingly concerning the optics section. For one can clearly see the cut out for a dual rear camera set up, along with a small slit for the LED flash that will complete the unit. There isn’t much else to see like a branding or anything, but you can see the cut outs for a USB Type-C port and audio outlets too.

It has been widely speculated that Xiaomi’s latest flagship will come with a dual camera unit at the back, and all that the picture really achieves is to pique our interest about something that is already known. However, if you’re looking for leaks pertaining to the Xiaomi Mi 6, you won’t have to look too hard. Over the past week, the creators themselves have been teasing the upcoming device incessantly, while there has certainly been no shortage of unofficial leaks either. Taking all these into account, this is what we have gathered about what specs and features we can expect to see in the Xiaomi Mi 6.

The standard edition of the upcoming smartphone will come with a 5.2-inch FHD display. Under the hood, the device will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset along with 4GB/ 6GB of RAM and at least 64GB of storage. The smartphone will run Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box with Xiaomi’s own MIUI skin on top.

The 5.7-inch version of the Xiaomi Mi 6, called the Mi 6 Plus, is said to come with a dual-curved QHD display. Internal specs might remain largely similar, though some aspects like the battery or the camera might be improved. It is not yet clear if both editions will get the dual camera set up or if the feature will be kept exclusive to the Plus variant. An IP 67 or 68 certification may also be on the cards.
