Alcatel has made full use of the publicity provided by the international trade fair, the IFA 2017, currently ongoing in Berlin. It has launched four new models at this annual trade fair, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious. The three devices are the Alcatel Idol 5S, the Idol 5, the Alcatel A7 XL, and the Alcatel A7. We list the specs and features, as well as the price tags, of all the devices below.
First off, a word on the availability of the devices. The Alcatel A7 XL and A7 will retail in various major markets including Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and the entirety of Africa by the third and fourth quarter of 2017. The Alcatel Idol 5S and the Alcatel Idol 5 will be available in Europe by March next year.
Also, the price tags have been revealed. The Alcatel A7 XL comes for EUR 279.99 or around Rs 21,352 while the A7 comes for EUR 229.99/Rs 17,539. On the other hand, the Alcatel Idol 5S will set you back by EUR 399.99/Rs 30,504 while the Idol 5 has a price tag of EUR 239.99/Rs 18,302.
Alcatel Idol 5S and Idol 5 Specs and Features
We have previously covered the Idol 5 in some detail. It has a 5.2-inch Full HD display and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. With 423ppi of pixel density on board, it offers excellent display facilities. We loved the front facing dual speakers which are integrated into the body made of metal and glass.
Underneath the Alcatel Idol 5S is a standard MediaTek Helio P20 processor working in tandem with 3GB of RAM plus 32GB of native storage. It can be expanded to 256GB via a micro SD card. There is a single 12-megapixel rear/primary camera with hybrid auto focus (that is PDAF + CAF). The 8-MP front snapper is also pretty good. Keeping the lights on is a 2850mAh battery while the software platform is Android Nougat.
On the other hand, we have the Alcatel Idol 5 which has a similar rear camera while sporting a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies/video calling. It comes loaded with a quad-core MediaTek MT6753 processor which works alongside 3GB of RAM plus 16GB of internal storage, the latter of which is expandable. A 2800mAh battery keeps the lights on and it runs on the Android Nougat platform.
Alcatel A7 XL and A7 Specs and Features
The new Alcatel A7 XL has a dual-camera setup on the back. The front snapper has a 5-megapixel sensor along with soft flash. It has a larger 6-inch Full HD IPS display that comes with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Also on board is a 2.5D arc glass. Powering the device is an octa-core MediaTek processor which works alongside 3GB of RAM plus 32GB of internal storage, which is expandable.
We have previously covered the Alcatel A7. It has a smaller 5.5-inch Full HD display and boasts of a MediaTek MT6750T processor paired with 3GB of RAM plus 32GB of internal or native storage. Thanks to the microSD card slot, you can expand the memory to up to up to 128GB. There are two front-facing speakers, one on the top while the other is on the bottom edge. Both the Alcatel A7XL and the A7 comes with a 4,000 mAh battery.
